Admission 2026-27 details — fees, deadline, eligibility, scholarshipsA broad-based liberal arts programme fostering critical thinking, communication, and cultural awareness across humanities and social sciences. Fifteen subjects in five families — two Majors from one family + one Minor from another (NEP 2020): Hindi, English, Sanskrit · Political Science, Sociology, History, Geography · Home Science, Social Work, Physical Education, Education · Economics, Statistics, Mathematics · Journalism & Mass Communication.
The Bachelor of Arts at BITE is a three-year liberal arts programme built around Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith's humanities core and enriched with the NEP 2020 multidisciplinary framework. Students choose two Majors from one subject family and a Minor from another, across fifteen subjects in five families — Hindi, English and Sanskrit; Political Science, Sociology, History and Geography; Home Science, Social Work, Physical Education and Education; Economics, Statistics and Mathematics; and Journalism & Mass Communication — with skill-development and co-curricular courses every semester. Varanasi's living heritage is a classroom in itself: a History major studying the ancient period walks through Sarnath, a Sociology major runs her village-study in the Babatpur rural belt, an English major sits in on a Kashi literary colloquium. The Purwanchal Educational Trust established BITE in 2003 with a simple philosophy — भारतीय मूल्य (Indian values) on the inside, modern academic rigour on the outside — and the BA programme is the clearest expression of that blend. Classes are bilingual where the subject demands; assessments mix continuous evaluation with MGKVP semester examinations. By the end of year three, graduates carry a degree that is recognised for M.A. and B.Ed admission at any Indian university and competitive-exam preparation for UPSC, UPPSC, SSC, Railway, and banking services. The 480 BA seats (the largest programme at BITE) are allocated across the fifteen major subjects based on combinations permitted by MGKVP, with reserved-category quotas applied per Uttar Pradesh government norms.
Topical overview only. Refer to MGKVP's authoritative syllabus for the complete course structure and credit details.
