एमए हिन्दी
The Language of a Civilization — Hindi literature from Adikal to contemporary era
Admission 2026-27 details — fees, deadline, eligibility, scholarshipsMaster's programme in Hindi covering classical and modern literature, literary criticism, linguistics, and Indian knowledge systems. Heavy focus on research methodology and original dissertation work.
The Master of Arts in Hindi at BITE is a two-year, four-semester programme for students who want rigorous training in Hindi literature, literary criticism, linguistics, and research methodology — grounded in Varanasi's unparalleled literary heritage. Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, the curriculum begins with Bhakti-period classical literature (Kabir, Tulsidas, Surdas) and Riti Kaal conventions, moves through modern novel and short-story criticism, surveys poetry from Chhayavaad to post-independence movements, and culminates in a substantial dissertation in semester four. The programme is mapped to the UGC-NET/JRF Hindi syllabus, and faculty run dedicated NET-preparation sessions, past-paper analyses, and mock tests for students targeting university teaching careers. BITE actively supports students in publishing peer-reviewed papers and presenting at national seminars — the dissertation component is structured to be publication-ready. Varanasi itself is central to the programme: the city's Kashi Hindi Sabha, BHU's Hindi department, and the living Bhojpuri-Hindi folk-literature corpus of Eastern UP all feed into field-based assignments and literary colloquia. Students from BA Hindi or equivalent (50% aggregate minimum) are eligible; Indian-language backgrounds with comparable course credits are also considered. The programme has 60 sanctioned seats and is particularly well-suited for students targeting Ph.D. research, university teaching via NET/JRF, Hindi teaching at PGT level (after B.Ed), Hindi journalism, content writing, translation services, and civil-services preparation with Hindi Literature as the optional subject.
