Examination Regulatory Authority · Prayagraj · SCERT-UP
The official portal for UP's two-year Diploma in Elementary Education — registration, merit list, counselling choice-filling and seat allotment, explained step by step for applicants.
This page is a public-service navigation helper from BITE Varanasi, an SCERT-UP-affiliated D.El.Ed college. BITE is not the Examination Regulatory Authority, not SCERT, and not updeled.gov.in. Dates, fees and eligibility change between cycles — the authoritative source is always the current notification at updeled.gov.in.
updeled.gov.in is the official admission portal for the UP D.El.Ed (BTC) programme — the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education that the RTE Act 2009 mandates for primary-school teaching (Classes I–VIII) and that UP government assistant-teacher recruitment requires.
The process is conducted by the Examination Regulatory Authority (Pariksha Niyamak Pradhikari), Prayagraj, for institutions recognised by SCERT-UP — both government DIETs (District Institutes of Education and Training) and SCERT-affiliated private colleges. One portal covers the whole journey:
Old name, same course: D.El.Ed was called BTC(Basic Training Certificate) in UP for decades — most people, coaching centres and even school principals still say “BTC.” On the portal and in this guide, D.El.Ed and BTC mean the same diploma.
Exact dates and fees are set by each cycle's notification; the shape of the journey stays the same. Six stages:
During the notified application window, register on updeled.gov.in with your name (exactly as on your marksheets), date of birth, mobile and email. Fill the qualification details — Class 10, Class 12 and graduation marks — and pay the application fee online. Keep the registration number safe: every later stage uses it.
The portal typically opens a short correction window after applications close. Re-check spellings, category, and marks entries against your certificates — counselling-stage document verification rejects mismatches.
UP D.El.Ed selection is merit-based — a state rank computed from your Class 10, Class 12 and graduation marks per the current notification (no entrance exam). The rank list is published on updeled.gov.in; download and keep your rank card.
In your counselling phase, log in and fill college choices — government DIETs and SCERT-UP-affiliated private colleges, district by district. Order matters: the allotment engine takes your highest-ranked available choice. Research colleges before this step, not after.
If a choice is allotted, download the allotment letter, pay the confirmation fee within the deadline, and report to the allotted institute with originals — marksheets, rank card, ID, category certificate if applicable — for verification.
Seats left unfilled in private SCERT-affiliated colleges after the main phases are typically offered in a later vacant-seat round — updeled.gov.in-registered candidates approach colleges directly. This is the round through which BITE admits against its remaining D.El.Ed seats.
Every college in the list awards the same SCERT-UP diploma— so the choice-filling decision is really about where you'll actually train: teaching quality, practicum schools, UPTET/CTET preparation, hostel, distance from home, and what the college's alumni go on to do. Two honest rules of thumb:
Research before your counselling phase opens. Choice order is binding for the round — the engine allots your highest available preference at your rank.
BITE(Banaras Institute of Teacher's Education), Babatpur, Varanasi is an SCERT-UP-affiliated, NCTE-recognised D.El.Ed college — college code 420026, 50 sanctioned seats, ₹82,000 total fee for the full two years, hostel available, and UPTET/CTET preparation built into semester 4. If you applied on updeled.gov.in and are still without a seat, the vacant-seat route is open: pre-register below and the counselling team will walk you through the process end to end.

Always verify with the current notification on updeled.gov.in. Application windows, fees, eligibility formulas, counselling phases and round structures are re-notified every cycle; this page describes the standing shape of the process, not the current cycle's dates.
BITE Varanasi is an SCERT-UP-affiliated private D.El.Ed college and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the Examination Regulatory Authority, SCERT-UP, or updeled.gov.in.
