Semester 1 opens with Computer Fundamentals & Office Automation and Programming Principles — no computer-science background from school is assumed, and 12th Maths is not a prerequisite.

BCA is a 3-year undergraduate degree divided into 6 semesters, following the MGKVP curriculum at BITE Varanasi — theory papers plus practical laboratory courses every semester.
The BCA syllabus includes Mathematics I in Semester 1 and an elective of Discrete Mathematics or Mathematics II in Semester 2 — taught from fundamentals. Eligibility at BITE is 10+2 from any recognised board with 45% aggregate; 12th-level Maths is not a prerequisite, though it helps.
