Why BITE
Degree awarded by Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith. UGC Sections 2(f) and 12(B) — valid for UPSC / State PCS, teaching recruitment via B.Ed, MA admission, and all government jobs.
Choose three from: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Sociology, Political Science, Home Science, Ancient History. Most flexible BA elective mix among Varanasi private colleges.
BA is the fastest-growing qualification for UPSC (with electives overlapping Optional papers), State PCS, UP PSC, and the UP Basic Teacher Recruitment pathway (BA + B.Ed).
BITE offers 6 MA specialisations and a 2-year B.Ed — BA graduates at BITE often continue internally into one or both. Seamless internal admission pathway.
Curriculum emphasises research methodology, essay writing, primary-source reading, and critical thinking — the analytical foundation for civil services, journalism, social-work, and research careers.
BITE's BA fees are amongst the most affordable private-college BAs in Varanasi. 5-acre campus with library, computer lab, and sports facilities.
Comparative Positioning
BA is the broadest undergraduate degree in the Varanasi catchment — every MGKVP-affiliated college and the autonomous Udai Pratap College offer it, with subject combinations spanning Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Education, Home Science, and Sanskrit / Urdu literature. The Banaras Institute of Teacher's Education (BITE) runs one of the larger BA cohorts in Babatpur (480 sanctioned seats per session) precisely because the BA demographic is the largest single pool of college applicants in eastern UP, and the curriculum needs to support 13 distinct subject combinations rather than forcing all students into the same elective block.
The strategic advantage of BA at BITE is the natural continuation into teacher education at the same campus. The Bachelor of Arts → Bachelor of Education (BA + B.Ed) sequence is the most common qualification path for UP government school teacher recruitment (Super-TET cadre for Classes 6-8 and 9-10) and for CBSE / ICSE private- school PGT humanities posts. BA students who plan to pursue teaching can structure their final-year electives around the methodology subjects (Hindi, English, History, Geography, Political Science, Education) that align with the B.Ed teaching-methodology paper. The MGKVP-issued BA degree carries UGC Sections 2(f) and 12(B) recognition; affiliation papers are downloadable from the Mandatory Disclosure page.
For BA graduates with civil-services ambitions, the broader subject portfolio gives a head start on UPSC / UPPSC optional-paper selection — students who chose Geography, History, Political Science, or Sociology at BA can carry that subject directly into UPSC mains as their optional. For the postgraduate continuation, see the full 15-programme list — BITE offers MA in Hindi, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, and Home Science specialisations at the same campus. For the teacher-education pathway, see the B.Ed admission page.
