MGKVP · ENTRANCE EXAM 2026-27 · प्रवेश परीक्षा
Short answer: For most MGKVP undergraduate programmes there is no written entrance exam. Admission is decided on a merit index built from your 10+2 marks. Only Fine Arts, Music, and Theatre programmes have a practical test; B.Ed has the UP-state joint entrance (not MGKVP-conducted). This page explains the actual 2026-27 pathway per programme, with official dates from the MGKVP Admission Brochure.
Several aggregator websites and AI search overviews describe MGKVP UG admission as “entrance-exam-based”. This contradicts the official MGKVP Admission Brochure for UG Programmes 2026-27, which explicitly states under “Admission Process: Session 2026-27”:
“The admission to Undergraduate Programmes will be based on the merit. The merit will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations and the scaling policy of the university... candidates shall be called for counselling on the date and place fixed by the University as per the number of vacant seats (Except B.F.A. and B.Mus.).”
The exceptions are B.F.A. and B.Mus., which require a 200-mark practical examination, and B.Drama, which is selected through a practical/audition. There is no general UG written entrance test.
Programmes: B.A. · B.Com · B.A. (Hons.) Mass Communication · B.S.W.
Merit index = scaled 10+2 marks × 4 + weightage (sports/NCC/NSS up to 25). Counselling-based seat allotment.
Programmes: B.Sc (Maths Group) · B.Sc (Bio Group) · B.Com Retail Operations (AEDP) · B.Sc Textile & Handloom · B.Sc Tourism & Hospitality (AEDP)
Same merit formula. Subject-eligibility check applies (e.g. B.Sc Maths group requires Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics in 10+2).
Programmes: B.F.A. · B.Mus.
Merit index = (scaled 10+2 marks × 2) + practical exam marks + weightage. Practical conducted at the department on a date notified on mgkvp.ac.in. Age limit: 35 years as on 01-07-2026.
Programmes: B.Drama (Theatre Arts)
Department-level practical/audition selection. Age limit: 35 years as on 01-07-2026.
Programmes: B.Ed · B.P.Ed · D.El.Ed
B.Ed: UP B.Ed Joint Entrance Examination (state level). B.P.Ed: physical fitness + skills test. D.El.Ed: state counselling.
Programmes: M.A. (any specialisation) · M.Com · M.Sc · MCA
Specific department-level entrance/interview may apply for some specialisations. Refer to MGKVP Admission Brochure for PG Programmes 2026-27.
Your 10+2 marks are scaled to a common 100-point scale to neutralise differences between boards (UP Board, CBSE, ICSE, etc.). MGKVP publishes its scaling methodology each session.
The scaled marks are multiplied by 4 to produce a 400-point scaled score (2 multiplier for B.F.A. and B.Mus., where 200 practical marks are added on top).
Sports / NCC / NSS / Rovers & Rangers certificates can add up to 25 weightage marks. International sports = 20, NCC C-certificate (male) or G-2 (female) = 15, NSS 240+ hours with 2 special camps = 15, Govt./Governor's scout award = 10-15.
The final merit list is published on mgkvp.ac.in. Eligible candidates are called to in-person counselling (10 June – 10 July 2026) with original documents. Seat allotment happens on-the-spot based on merit rank and vacant seats.
