UG Counselling Cycle 2026-27 · Samarth Portal
Complete walkthrough of MGKVP UG counselling — rounds, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, and the BITE-specific reporting process. Counselling opens 10 June 2026.
This page covers MGKVP UG counselling (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BCA, BBA) conducted via the Samarth portal. B.Ed counselling is conducted at UP state level via the UP B.Ed JEE process; D.El.Ed counselling is conducted by UPBEEC. See the table below for the full programme-to-counselling map.
| Programme | Counselling process |
|---|---|
UG — B.A., B.Com, B.Sc, BCA, BBA | MGKVP-specific counselling at Samarth portal (this page) Merit-based on 10+2 marks. Counselling 10 June - 10 July 2026. |

B.P.Ed | MGKVP-specific, often with practical fitness test BCEC or MGKVP direct counselling depending on cycle. Practical/fitness test typically required at the college level. |
PG — M.A. / M.Com / M.Sc | MGKVP-specific counselling at Samarth portal Merit-based on bachelor's degree marks. Counselling timeline runs in parallel with UG, occasionally with a slightly later window. |

Dates per the MGKVP Admission Brochure 2026-27. Extensions of 1-2 weeks are common — always verify current status on the Samarth portal before each step.
After the application window closes, MGKVP publishes a provisional merit list per programme on mgkvpadmission.samarth.edu.in. Log in with the credentials you created during application and find your rank. If your rank is above the previous year's closing rank for your preferred programme, you have a strong chance at counselling — note the previous-year closing rank from the brochure for context.
When MGKVP announces counselling registration (typically 10 June 2026 for the 2026-27 cycle), log in to the Samarth portal and click "Counselling Registration." Confirm your candidate details, choose the round you want to participate in (Round 1 is the most competitive — wait only if you have a backup plan), and pay any counselling-registration fee MGKVP specifies (often ₹500 - ₹1,000).
This is the most important step. The portal lets you rank your preferred colleges in priority order across all your applied programmes. List BITE Varanasi if it is your top choice; list 10-15 other MGKVP-affiliated colleges as backups. The system always allocates the HIGHEST-PRIORITY available choice based on your merit rank — so order matters. Once submitted, choices are typically locked for that round.
MGKVP runs the allotment algorithm centrally: your rank + your choice order → a single college allocation per programme. The result is published on the portal and notified via SMS/email. You'll see one of three outcomes: (a) seat allotted at one of your chosen colleges, (b) waitlist for Round 2, or (c) no allocation if your rank was below the closing cut-off for every choice.
If a seat is allotted, you must REPORT at the allotted college within MGKVP's reporting window (typically 5-7 days). At BITE specifically: visit the admissions office at the Babatpur campus with all originals + photocopies, pay the first-semester fee (online or DD), get your enrollment number, and your seat is locked. Miss this window and the seat is forfeited to the next candidate.
At the allotted college (BITE in your case), original-document verification happens at reporting. Bring: original 10+2 marksheet, original Aadhaar, original category certificate if claimed, original domicile certificate if UP-resident, original transfer certificate from previous institution, original character certificate, four passport-size photos, and the application-fee receipt. Photocopies of each — signed self-attested where allowed — speed up the process.
On the same day as document verification, pay the first-semester fee at the college accounts office. Modes accepted at BITE: bank DD in BITE's favour, online transfer to BITE's account, or card payment at the office. Get a receipt — this completes your enrollment and you'll receive your MGKVP enrollment number that you'll use throughout your time at BITE (and on JANHIT for results).
If your Round 1 allotment didn't result in a seat, or you got a college you don't want and decline it, you can re-enter Round 2 (early July 2026). Round 2 typically has fewer seats but is your second chance — be flexible with college choices in Round 2 since the best ones may already be filled.
The single biggest difference between getting your preferred college and getting a random allocation is how thoughtfully you fill your college choices. Four rules learned from past counselling cycles:
The algorithm picks your highest-ranked available choice. List your top 3 colleges first in absolute priority order — don't pad with "safe" choices at the top, list them ONLY as later fallback options. A common mistake: putting a "guaranteed" college first means you never get a chance at the better one.
Even if BITE is your only real preference, list other MGKVP-affiliated colleges as backups (in your actual order of preference). If your top choice is full at your rank, the system moves down your list — having only 2-3 choices means a higher chance of no allocation.
BITE is well-known for its NCTE-approved B.Ed and large UG programmes (BA 480 seats, B.Sc 240 seats, B.Com 240 seats), MGKVP's flagship affiliated college since 2009. Visit /mgkvp-affiliated-colleges-varanasi for a peer comparison before locking your choices.
Round 1 has the most seats but also the most candidates. Round 2 has fewer seats but only the remaining candidates compete. If your rank is very high (top 10%) — be aggressive in Round 1. If your rank is mid-range — list ambitious choices in Round 1 and have a clear plan for Round 2.
Bring originals AND photocopies (self-attested or gazetted-officer signed where allowed). Missing any one of these can stall your enrollment.
