On 20 June 2026, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow issued BITE Varanasi its formal MBA affiliation letter (No. 2026/12142). With it, the Master of Business Administration at BITE is now AKTU-affiliated for the academic sessions 2026-27 to 2028-29, carrying AKTU College Code 1284 and 60 sanctioned seats. This builds on the AICTE approval (Extension of Approval F.No. Northern/1-46284987823/2026/EOA) granted earlier in 2026.
If you are weighing an MBA in Varanasi for 2026-27, here is what the AKTU affiliation actually changes — and what it doesn't.
What "AKTU-affiliated" means for your degree
AKTU is Uttar Pradesh's state technical university and is UGC-recognised. For the BITE MBA it is now the degree-awarding authority — your MBA degree is issued in AKTU's name, and admission runs through AKTU central counselling rather than a separate college test. AICTE approval, separately, means the 60 seats are nationally sanctioned by the technical-education regulator. Both can be cross-checked: the AKTU affiliation letter and the AICTE approval reference are listed on BITE's Mandatory Disclosure page.
BITE is still MGKVP-affiliated — the MBA is the new addition
To be precise: BITE remains MGKVP-affiliated (College Code 134) for its teacher-education and UG/PG degrees, and SCERT-affiliated for D.El.Ed. The AKTU affiliation is specific to the MBA (College Code 1284). So BITE now carries a dual-affiliation, dual-approval posture — MGKVP + NCTE for the established programmes, AKTU + AICTE for the new MBA.
The curriculum: AKTU's KMBN MBA, with a dual specialisation
The programme follows AKTU's revised MBA syllabus — the KMBN series under the AICTE Model Curriculum:
- Semester I (KMBN101-152): Management Concepts & Organisational Behaviour, Managerial Economics, Financial Accounting & Analysis, Business Statistics & Analytics, Marketing Management, Design Thinking, Business Communication, plus IT Skills Lab and a Mini Project.
- Semester II (KMBN201-252): Business Environment & Legal Aspects, Human Resource Management, Business Research Methods, Financial Management & Corporate Finance, Operations Management, Quantitative Techniques, Digital Marketing & E-Commerce, Management Information Systems, plus IT Skills Lab and a Mini Project.
- Year 2: an AICTE-mandated summer internship, a dual specialisation (choose any two of Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, International Business and IT), and a final research project / dissertation.
The full breakdown is on the MBA programme page.
Who can apply, and how
The MBA is open to graduates from any discipline (Commerce, Arts, Science, Engineering, Management) with a minimum 50% aggregate. You need a valid score in any one of CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, GMAT, UPCET-MBA or CUET-PG, then list BITE (College Code 1284) during AKTU counselling. There is no separate BITE entrance exam.
The Golden Batch — inaugural 2026-27 cohort
The first cohort under the new affiliation is the Golden Batch: total fees ₹1,65,000 — ₹20,000 less than the regular ₹1,85,000 structure that begins from 2027-28. Academically, the programme is led by BITE's Director Prof. O. P. Rai (former Dean of Commerce, BHU) and backed by the same governing body that runs BITE — former Vice-Chancellors and BHU / IIT-BHU deans, including Prof. H. P. Mathur (former Dean & Head, Faculty of Management Studies, BHU) — an unusual governance pedigree for a new private MBA in eastern UP.
