Stuck on a Samarth login? Five common pain-points, fixed: forgotten password, OTP not arriving, document upload failures, payment errors, and login pages that won't load. Plus a preventive checklist so you don't hit these issues at the deadline.
There is no single Samarth login. Each university operates its own subdomain. Half of all “login not working” problems are actually wrong-URL problems. Use the table below to find your university's exact portal first.

Correct — Samarth is a platform used by 100+ universities, each operating its own subdomain. There is no single login page. You log in on the specific university's subdomain you are applying to: mgkvpadmission.samarth.edu.in for MGKVP, vbspu.samarth.edu.in for VBSPU, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in for IGNOU, admission.uod.ac.in for Delhi University, etc. This page lists the major URLs; for a complete routing table, see our /samarth-portal-guide page.
On your university's Samarth login page, click "Forgot Password" below the login form. Enter your registered email or mobile number; Samarth sends a reset link by email OR an OTP by SMS. Set a new password meeting the complexity rules (typically 1 upper + 1 lower + 1 number + 1 special character, min 8 characters). The previous password cannot be retrieved — Samarth stores it hashed.
Wait 3-5 minutes (SMS gateways delay during peak admission hours). Click "Resend OTP" once. Check your email spam folder — Samarth typically emails the same OTP. Verify your mobile number was entered correctly at registration. If OTP still does not arrive after 10 minutes, try: clearing browser cache, switching browsers (Chrome ↔ Firefox), and retrying. For persistent issues, contact the specific university's help-desk email listed on the portal.
Standard Samarth limits: photo and signature < 500 KB (JPG); marksheets and certificates < 1 MB (PDF). Compress over-sized files using tinypng.com (for JPG) or ilovepdf.com / smallpdf.com (for PDF) — free, browser-based tools that reduce size while preserving readability. Photo dimensions should be roughly 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm passport-style. Each university publishes its exact limits in the application form notes — verify there.
Check your bank account first. If money is deducted but the portal shows "Pending": (1) do not retry payment immediately — wait 30 minutes for portal-gateway sync; (2) log back in and refresh "Payment Status" — successful payments typically reflect within an hour; (3) if still pending after 24 hours, contact the university's help-desk with your transaction ID + application ID; (4) bank-side refunds for failed payments are automatic in 5-7 business days. Avoid UPI during peak hours; net banking is more reliable.
Log in to the Samarth portal using your email/mobile + password — the application ID is displayed on the dashboard. If you also forgot the password, reset it via "Forgot Password" first, then log in to see the application ID. If you cannot recover account access at all, contact the specific university's admission help-desk with your full name, DOB, and registered email/mobile — they can manually look up your account.
Depends on the university and timing. Most Samarth implementations allow edits while the application is in "Draft" status. Once you "Lock" or "Final Submit" the application, edits are usually disabled. Some universities open a brief correction window (24-48 hours) after the deadline closes — watch for notifications. Otherwise, contact the help-desk in writing within 7 days of submission requesting a specific field correction; this is granted at the university's discretion.
Yes. Most Samarth portals have a language toggle in the top-right corner (typically labelled "EN | हिंदी"). Click "EN" to switch to English. Your saved data is preserved across the language switch — only the UI changes.
Samarth uses a 20-30 minute idle timeout for security. If you step away from your computer or stop typing for that long, you are automatically logged out and any unsaved form data is lost. Best practice: save the form ("Save & Continue") every few minutes — the button is usually at the bottom of each section. For document uploads, complete one section at a time rather than leaving the form open in a tab for hours.
Each university's Samarth portal lists a help-desk email and phone number — usually in the footer or under "Contact". For MGKVP applicants, the support is via mgkvp.ac.in.
